Developed agricultural and food industries, a large potential of continental tourism and a growing popularity of renewable energy industry and efficient energy use make a good platform for potential investments.
The County in particular needs investments in irrigation and construction of facilities for livestock production and investments in the food industry processing capacities. Energy production from the biomass of various residues in farming, forestry and wood-processing industry, and biogas production from manure as an animal husbandry residue also represent huge investment potentials.

Brod-Posavina County is located in the southern part of the Slavonian lowlands between the mountain of Psunj, Požeška Gora and Dilj hills in the north, and the river Sava in the south.
The bases for the economic development of the County are the processing industry (oriented towards export: metal, wood and food industry and furniture manufacture), agriculture, construction, trade and service activities. The most prominent economic activity is the processing industry which makes up 33 percent of the County's economy and accounts for 80 percent of total exports, followed by trade, construction, agriculture etc. The processing industry is dominated by companies working in metalworking, wood processing and furniture manufacturing, and the production of chemical and food products.
The favorable geostrategic position (intersection of X and Vc transport corridors), traffic infrastructure (roads, railways, waterways), valuable natural resources (103,515 ha of arable land, 60,000 ha of wood areas, abundance of water), cultural and historical heritage and the readiness of the education system (12 high schools) and academic community to adapt to the needs of the economy provide prerequisites for a strong growth of the economy and other activities that have an impact on the County's development.
The opportunity to stop the present negative demographic trends lies in a more dynamic economic development and its close interaction with the development of the education system.
Entrepreneurs' interest for realizing greenfield investments, especially in the Nova Gradiška Industrial Park and in the area of the Slavonski Brod Port Authority, testify to the possibility of creating a favorable environment for attracting both domicile investors and investors outside Brod-Posavina County.
