Future skills and innovation ecosystems through robotics education

The representative office of the Finnish region Häme organized the conference in cooperation with Robotics Campus Riihimäki in order to present the aforementioned Riihimäki robot program.

The model that originated in the Finnish city of Riihimäki is considered a forerunner from Finland for a green and digital transition that opens up many new opportunities for the people and the economy of the EU.

Robotics, along with digitization and artificial intelligence, is a vital and highly promising component of economic growth and innovation. A forward-looking education model that fosters skills and talent is a vital part of building a successful innovation ecosystem.

The city of Riihimäki implements a unique robotics education model that provides robotics education from kindergarten to university level, for all children living in the city. The Riihimäki model has attracted a lot of attention and interest in recent years and is considered very pioneering and innovative both in the European Union and globally.

Every child in the city of Riihimäki learns robotics in kindergarten and school. Robotics is integrated into school subjects such as technical culture, mathematics, physics, etc.

Close and strategic cooperation with companies and industry is also very active, which encourages the construction of the entire robotic business and innovation ecosystem in the region.

A special surprise at the conference was the demonstration of robots made by students present at the conference, who themselves presented the Riihimäki model and robots.

Representatives of the European Commission, the Center for European Policy Studies and Meta (Facebook) spoke at the conference.

The conference was attended by employees of the Development Agency of Vukovar-Srijem County as part of professional practice in the Representative Office of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem, as well as the head of the Representative Office, Renata Taušan.
