Representative Office Started Implementing the Professional Practice Program

During a week, employees of the Development Agency of Vukovar-Srijem County completed a professional practice program in the Representative office of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem in Brussels.

Already on the first day, they got acquainted with the work of the Council of the European Union as well as the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, and they also visited the Representation of the Agency for Regional Development of Northeastern Romania. The Vukovar-Srijem County and North-Eastern Romania have the same priority branches of the economy, namely the wood and food processing industry.

The employees of the Development Agency of the Vukovar-Srijem County learned about the work of the European Committee of Regions as well as the European Parliament during a meeting with MP Tomislav Sokol. During the meeting with MP Sokol, they discussed the new Consumer Credit Directive and the EU digital health passport.

Participation in conferences is also part of professional practice. The conference Blessed Aloysius Stepinac - a testimony of faith, perseverance and hope was organized by Croatian member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko, and among the speakers were historians and representatives of the Church.

The conference Future Skills and Innovation Ecosystems Through Robotics Education was held in the office of the Representative Office of the Finnish region of Häme, which organized the conference in cooperation with the Robotics Campus Riihimäki to present the aforementioned robotics program Riihimäki. The city of Riihimäki implements a unique robotics education model that provides robotics education from kindergarten to university level, for all children living in the city. The Riihimäki model has attracted a lot of attention and interest in recent years and is considered very pioneering and innovative both in the European Union and globally.

In order to get a comprehensive view of the work of the institutions of the European Union and the European Union itself, the employees of the Development Agency of Vukovar-Srijem County visited the House of European History and the Parlamentarium. Two interactive and mutually complementary sets.

The House of European History, through its permanent exhibition and interpreting history from a European perspective, connects and compares common experiences and their different understandings. Its aim is to initiate learning about transnational perspectives across Europe and to provide a link for all European citizens. In the Parlamentarium, multimedia guides lead visitors to the heart of the European Parliament, explaining the path towards European cooperation, how the European Parliament works and what its members are doing to meet today's challenges.

Professional practice in the office of the Representative Office enabled the employees of the Development Agency of the Vukovar-Srijem County to review the European Union through several perspectives: regional, national, European, legislative and historical.
