During their stay in Brussels, representatives of the Center of Competence, director Ivan Ambroš and Ivan Janić visited the Representation of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem, and the head of the Representation's office Renata Taušan participated in an interregional meeting of good practice.
Center competence d.o.o. for research and development with headquarters in Gradište, not far from Vinkovci, was founded with the aim of strengthening the innovation potential of the Vukovar-Srijem County economy and harmonizing research and development strategic plans with the needs of the economy, acting in the public interest. Center competence d.o.o. for research and development is a specialized business entity that carries out research projects of a developmental or production nature and develops competencies in the field of bioeconomy, and with which other business entities can contract research and development services.
The competence center is one of the partners in the NBS4LOCAL project of the Interreg Europe program for adaptation to climate change, and these days an interregional meeting of good practice is being held in Brussels. On this occasion, the Competence Center presented as many as four examples of good practice from the Republic of Croatia:
The NBS4LOCAL project is focused on nature-based solutions (NBS) that offer environmentally friendly interventions to restore and protect ecosystems, as well as building a sustainable approach in societies when adapting to climate change and natural disasters.
The main goal of the Project is to improve policies for encouraging, supporting and establishing NBS solutions as a priority, which improves the support systems for adaptation to climate change and encourages the systematic application of environmentally conscious solutions in local interventions.
NBS4LOCAL includes six European regions that bring together national, regional and county levels, tackle location-specific challenges, use adaptive examples of good practice and promote the values of NBS as an integral part of climate change adaptation interventions.
The project holder is the Ministry of the Interior of Hungary, and the partners are, apart from the Competence Center: the Flemish Land Agency, the Regional Council of Lapland, the Rzeszów Regional Development Agency, the Provincial Council of Alicante, BURST non-profit limited company and the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary.
