Hospitality and Tourism School in Osijek is one of six vocational schools in Croatia designated as a Regional Center of Competence in the field of tourism and hospitality, out of a total of 25 vocational schools designated as Regional Centers of Competence.
The Regional Competence Center of the Hospitality and Tourism School from Osijek implements the RCK VirtuOS project - the establishment of the RCK in the tourism and hospitality sector, financed by funds from the European Social Fund. As part of the project, they developed a program for the education of beer sommeliers, trained teachers and mentors at employers in the Brew School, Sheffield, UK and Doemens, Munich, Germany in the field of brewing, sommelier and pairing. Also, they equipped the Regional Center of Competence with a mini-brewery that students use for the homebrewing school practicum.
The project also programmed the project activity "Cooperation and exchange of experiences with institutions/organizations/institutions in the field of beer production and serving, and combining beer with food" within the framework of which the director of the Požega Vocational School Iva Šnajder, the director of the Vocational High School Vinkovci Domagoj Bujadinović, the teachers and teachers of the Regional Center of Competence Hospitality and Tourism School from Osijek, a teacher from the Vocational School of Požega and a teacher and a teacher from the Vocational High School Vinkovci stayed in Brussels and visited the Representative Office of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem.
The head of the office, Renata Taušan, hosted the principal, the director and the teachers in the premises of the Representative Office, she presented them with the current and future work of the Representative Office in 2024.
During his stay in Brussels, cooperation was established with the educational institution Campus Wemmel. Campus Wemmel is a high school that offers students from the first to the third grade education in three areas: sports, tourism and gastronomy. Also, they had the opportunity to see several examples of good practice of how "beer tourism" works in Belgium, and to make contact and expertly visit places important for the history of beer, brewing and serving culture, such as Belgian Beer World.
The Representative Office of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem is still available to educational institutions from the counties of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem during the preparation and implementation of EU projects.
