The aim of the European Award for Young Farmers is to promote a positive image of young farmers, and to identify activities characterized by innovation, sustainability and market orientation.
Criteria for selecting a project/operational concept are also related to the objective. Project - a rounded whole of a certain individual activity or investment.
Operational concept - a series of activities or investments aimed at the same goal (may include a series of related projects).
The project/operational concept should be completed or under implementation.
Criteria for selecting the project/operational concept - "the best, the most innovative, the most sustainable":
Use of new knowledge (know-how), new methods or new forms of technology in a particular sector or region.
Sector-based innovation may include work or organizational methods, the introduction of new forms of technology that bring about changes in relation to existing technology. Innovation can also consist of adapting or modernizing traditional technology.
Land-based innovation can involve the use of new developments (technical or organizational) in a geographic area where they have not been used before.
Transfer of innovation
Innovation must not be limited to one economy, but must have the potential to influence or affect economies in the same production sector, region or on the relations of that area with other areas.
Innovation does not have to have an impact only on farm production, but can also relate to product packaging, distribution channels and export methods for agricultural products.
Sustainability of innovation
The innovation must be economically and/or socially sustainable. An innovation must have a certain longevity and stand the test of time in order to have an effect, rather than appearing and disappearing in a short space of time.
The prize competition is organized in the period from January 10, 2024. until 10.02.2024. at 11:59 p.m.
