The objectives of this call are in line with the Strategic Plan: to contribute to efficient, clean, sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply through new solutions for smart grids and energy systems based on more efficient renewable energy solutions, in particular through:

a) Strengthening European leadership in affordable, secure and sustainable renewable energy technologies and services by improving their competitiveness in global value chains and positions in emerging markets, in particular through the diversification of the portfolio of renewable energy services and technologies.
b) Ensuring a cost-effective, uninterrupted and affordable supply to households and industries in a scenario of high penetration of variable renewable sources and other new low-carbon supplies.
c) Accelerate the development of carbon collection, use and storage as options to mitigate CO2 emissions in electricity generation and industrial applications.
